For some reason in the beginning of the semester I had a hard time establishing what the difference was between local and global revision. I now know that local revision is sentence level grammar concerns. Whereas global revision is reworking ideas and reshape the piece of writing to create a solid product. I feel that I started to get the hang of this in paper 2. While editing Brett Miller’s writing piece I focused on local revisions that could be made. Then while writing my feedback letter I talk about my global concerns. Personally it is easier for me to think about the ideas after I have read the paper because I have had time to create a full picture of what is trying to be done. I gave him some ideas that he could expand on in his paper such as: mistakes and the various roles that we all play in society. In the end I think that sometimes I am too nice and I do not say exactly what I want to because it is their writing not mine, it is about how they view the topic not me. I have told myself that I can not tell them how to think that is why I try to give both viewpoints when giving an idea on a peer review. Looking back this is why I struggled with peer review because I did not want to say something that I shouldn’t. In hindsight I probably should have because that could have helped my peers grow more.
